Rock it in Aliso & Wood Canyons 5K and 17K Trail Race Jan 13
The 5K is a fast out and back course along the Aliso Creek Trail (East) to Wood Canyon. The 17K (yes 17K, almost 11 miles) offers a few challenging climbs, including Rock it Trail, technical terrain, and nice long flat stretches. Both distances are almost entirely on trails except for one brief paved road crossing.

Super Warrior 5K Jan 20
The Super Warrior 5K, is hosted by Stripes of a Warrior, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit that originated in Anaheim, California. It will be held on January 20th, 2018 at Yorba Regional Park in Anaheim Hills. Our mission is to help cancer Warriors FIGHT cancer financially. We provide financial assistance to those that have been diagnosed with cancer and are unable to afford their medical bills, housing, medication, or food expenses, etc.

Gray Whale Migration Off Newport Beach Winter/Spring  Thru April
The Gray Whale makes the most spectacular and longest mass migration of any marine mammal. Tens of thousands of gray whales migrate annually along the Newport/Laguna Beach coastline from the summer feeding grounds in the Bering Sea to the winter grounds of the Baja California lagoons and travel along the Newport Beach coast during the months of December, January, February, March, & April. During the gray whale migration it is not uncommon to view 5 or more gray whales a cruise making for excellent viewing opportunities. Other varieties of whales including finback whales, humpback whales, and minke whales can also be viewed along with several species of dolphin.

43rd Annual Boat Parade Dec 8, 9, 15, 16
This year on the boat parade nights, we are excited to include family fun holiday activities throughout the Harbor starting at 4:30pm and providing entertainment and holiday cheer for everyone prior to the boat parade. The City of Dana Point, County of Orange and the California State Parks at Doheny will provide Trolley service which runs all four days of the parade starting at 3:30pm until 10:30pm.

Scottish Fest May 27-28
The event features hundreds of bagpipers and drummers, Scottish and Irish food and vendors, Scottish clans, Highland dancing and traditional Scottish feats of strength like the hammer throw, putting the stone and caber toss. Part of the United Scottish Society, the festival was established in 1932 and was called a Highland Games in the tradition of Scottish heritage.

Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration Apr 22
The City of Mission Viejo will celebrate Earth Day & Arbor Day on Saturday, April 22, 2017, on Mustang Run at Los Alisos Boulevard from 8:00 a.m. to noon.  We’re looking for volunteers to plant drought-tolerant trees and shrubs and assist with litter clean up. A Green Expo will be held on Mustang Run from 8:00 a.m. to noon with free hotdogs and ice cream for participants (while supplies last).

Pet Expo Apr 28-30
A giant animal entertainment and education festival. It’s the largest pet and pet product expo in the world. Over 1,000 animals will entertain you in stage shows, competitions and demonstrations including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, rodents, goats, pigs, llamas, rabbits, miniature horses and more. There will also be pet adoptions, pet products for sale, petting zoo, how-to workshops and advice from animal experts. It is presented by a nonprofit organization to promote responsible pet care. Dana Point Fine Arts Outdoor Art Show at 2017 Festival of Whales Mar 4
Dana Point Fine Arts Association, a nonprofit organization, will have their annual outdoor art show and sale during the Dana Point Harbor Festival of Whales will be from 9:30 AM to 5 PM at the Harbor Boardwalk along the boat docks in Mariner’s Village. Watercolor, oil, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel and photography by many award-winning local artists will be available for purchase. Dana Point Fine Arts annually donates a portion of the proceeds from the show to Dana Hills High School Art Department.

The American Heart Association will host a 5K timed run and 5k walk. Come take the first step towards a healthy lifestyle with activities for the whole family (four-legged friends included!). The Parade takes place in down-town San Juan Capistrano. This is the nation’s largest non-motorized parade. It is totally organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Arrive early; most street closures are by 10.00 a.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 am. The Mercado is a Street Fair and Market Place where you can eat, drink, and shop at over 100 booths. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of The Working Cowboy Band, a traditional country music band.
