Rock it in Aliso & Wood Canyons 5K and 17K Trail Race Jan. 12
The 5K is a fast out and back course along the Aliso Creek Trail (East) to Wood Canyon. The 17K (yes 17K, almost 11 miles) offers a few challenging climbs, including Rock it Trail, technical terrain, and nice long flat stretches. Both distances are almost entirely on trails except for one brief paved road crossing.

Gray Whale Migration Off Newport Beach Winter/Spring  Through April
The Gray Whale makes the most spectacular and longest mass migration of any marine mammal. Tens of thousands of gray whales migrate annually along the Newport/Laguna Beach coastline from the summer feeding grounds in the Bering Sea to the winter grounds of the Baja California lagoons and travel along the Newport Beach coast during the months of December, January, February, March, & April.
