Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta May 6
2017 marks the 27th year of celebrating Mexican culture in our Spanish Village by the Sea. The Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration showcases live entertainment featuring traditional Mariachi’s and Ballet Folklorico to Cumbias, Tex Mex, and Salsa dancers. Community groups will be serving up authentic Mexican food fare and other activities will include a juried Art Contest, Carnival Game booths and a vendor area.

2017 OC Greek Fest May 19-21

Anaheim Children’s Festival  May 20
Fun for the whole family with free arts and crafts, dance lessons and performing arts classes. Over 20 booths will decorate the entrance area outside the Amphitheater in Pearson Park. Two stages will be located at the Festival – local groups that do a variety of entertainment will be featured. Musicians, puppets, bands, vocal groups, and dancers will perform from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

23rd Annual Balboa Island Artwalk May 21
The Balboa Island Artwalk will take place along the South Bayfront Promenade of Balboa Island. Admission is free. This fine art show features 100 artists exhibiting paintings, fine jewelry, blown glass, sculpture, and photography. Spectators will enjoy live music throughout the day on six stages along the walk.

Strawberry Festival  May 26-29
The festival is a parade and carnival celebrating the city’s strawberry-growing history. Free admission!

Scottish Fest May 27-28
The event features hundreds of bagpipers and drummers, Scottish and Irish food and vendors, Scottish clans, Highland dancing and traditional Scottish feats of strength like the hammer throw, putting the stone and caber toss. Part of the United Scottish Society, the festival was established in 1932 and was called a Highland Games in the tradition of Scottish heritage.

This years highlights include annual Plant Sale and Garden Flea Market, exhibits demonstrating sustainable practices for your garden, garden related opportunities in our community, Open to the Public ‘funky container’ and ‘floral design’ contests, San Clemente Art Association’s Garden and Flower Show painting competition, Butterfly Habitat Education and Water Smart Program.

Bunny Blast Apr 8
Children’s Activities include: Crafts Games Face Painting Entertainment Instructor Showcase – meet the Parks and Recreation class instructors “Touch a Truck” – kids will get to climb, work on and “drive” a fun work truck, including trash, fire, and Sheriff’s Department. The Easter Bunny will also be hopping around! Bring your own camera for pictures. Note: There WILL NOT be an egg hunt at this event. Food available for purchase. Activities may be canceled if it rains on event day. Please call the Recreation Hotline for an event update at 362-4351 x1. No dogs or smoking allowed in the event area.

Bunny Days Apr 15
Bring the family and celebrate spring! Enjoy carnival games; crafts; the spring garden center; photos with the bunny (bring your own camera), an inflatable obstacle course, slide and much more! Earth Day/Arbor Day Celebration Apr 22
The City of Mission Viejo will celebrate Earth Day & Arbor Day on Saturday, April 22, 2017, on Mustang Run at Los Alisos Boulevard from 8:00 a.m. to noon.  We’re looking for volunteers to plant drought-tolerant trees and shrubs and assist with litter clean up. A Green Expo will be held on Mustang Run from 8:00 a.m. to noon with free hotdogs and ice cream for participants (while supplies last).

Earth Day Celebration  Apr 22
“Go Green” and volunteer to plant, weed and clean up the Niguel Botanical Preserve. Celebrate Earth Day by giving back your time to improve the landscaping in our 18-acre preserve. Volunteers should wear old clothes, closed toed shoes, and be prepared to work in the soil! Drinking water and a light snack provided.

Pet Expo Apr 28-30
A giant animal entertainment and education festival. It’s the largest pet and pet product expo in the world. Over 1,000 animals will entertain you in stage shows, competitions and demonstrations including dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, rodents, goats, pigs, llamas, rabbits, miniature horses and more. There will also be pet adoptions, pet products for sale, petting zoo, how-to workshops and advice from animal experts. It is presented by a nonprofit organization to promote responsible pet care. Walk MS  Apr 29

Dana Point Fine Arts Outdoor Art Show at 2017 Festival of Whales Mar 4
Dana Point Fine Arts Association, a nonprofit organization, will have their annual outdoor art show and sale during the Dana Point Harbor Festival of Whales will be from 9:30 AM to 5 PM at the Harbor Boardwalk along the boat docks in Mariner’s Village. Watercolor, oil, acrylic, colored pencil, pastel and photography by many award-winning local artists will be available for purchase. Dana Point Fine Arts annually donates a portion of the proceeds from the show to Dana Hills High School Art Department.

Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk  Mar 4
The American Heart Association will host a 5K timed run and 5k walk. Come take the first step towards a healthy lifestyle with activities for the whole family (four-legged friends included!). Before the walk, enjoy the Expo which includes healthy snacks, demonstrations, health screenings and healthy activities. The annual Orange County Heart & Stroke Walk raises funds for research, and initiatives that promote prevention, treatment, community outreach and better patient care in areas related to heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases.

The annual Dana Point Festival of Whales celebrates the return of the once-endangered California Gray Whale with a leviathan-size event. Swallows Day Parade & Mercado Mar 25
The Parade takes place in down-town San Juan Capistrano. This is the nation’s largest non-motorized parade. It is totally organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Arrive early; most street closures are by 10.00 a.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 am. The Mercado is a Street Fair and Market Place where you can eat, drink, and shop at over 100 booths. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of The Working Cowboy Band, a traditional country music band.
