Bring the family! This is a pet-friendly event and many of last years’ attendees had their four-legged friends in tow. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome!

Surf City USA Marathon & Half Marathon Feb 5
This exclusive oceanfront course is a California Dream! Run on Pacific Coast Highway past the famous Huntington Beach pier and wind through the legendary surfing beaches of Southern California. Retro surf bands entertain along the way and the Finish Line Party includes a beach side beer garden in the California sun.

Laguna Beach Music Festival  Feb 8-12
This festival is dedicated to artistic excellence and innovation, featuring an internationally acclaimed Mentor Musician or Ensemble along with other talented artists in a week long blend of performances and education.

Taste of San Juan Feb 9

Annual Monarch Butterfly Day Feb 11
OC Parks invites children and families to learn all about Monarch Butterflies and their natural habitat with an up-close look at the magnificent creatures. Children can assist in planting plants to attract Monarch Butterflies. Participants can also go inside a netted butterfly enclosure.

Timberwolf 5 K Run/Walk  Feb 11
The Timberwolf 5K Run/Walk, and the 1K Fun Run, feature breathtaking views, fantastic free food, event t-shirts and the company of hundreds of friendly fitness enthusiasts. Proceeds from registration and sponsorships benefit Northwood High School and Families Forward, a local non-profit providing supported housing programs, counseling, food, referrals, school supplies, career coaching, and other services for families in crisis. Dog-a-Palooza Pet Expo  Feb 18
Dog-a-Palooza is a unique and family oriented event centered around family pets.  Please feel free to bring your well socialized people-friendly dog.  This one day event offers a variety of informative groups, retailers, groomers, veterinarians and pet organizations – everything you need to know for a happier, healthier pet! There will be a Pack Walk around the Sports Park, informative booths, kids’ activities and a K-9 demonstration. *Please note: no flexible leashes are allowed for safety reasons.  If your dog is not friendly, you may be asked to leave the event.

The Kid’s Pet Parade  Feb 18
Part of the annual Fiesta de las Golondrinas celebration. Kids between the ages of 5 to 12 can show off their favorite animals in a contest for, The Cutest, Most Unusual, Best Team Costume (owner and pet), Funniest & Most Obedient (pet, not child).

Los Alamitos ‘Race on the Base’  Feb 24 & 25
The yearly event has continued to provide not only a forum for local avid runners and walkers, but has also instilled a sense of pride and teamwork between the Los Alamitos City Council, the citizens of Los Alamitos, the Rossmoor Community Services District, and the local business community. The race is held on the run ways at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos and features helicopters, planes and military vehicles with music throughout the course.

Irvine Park Railroad Anniversary Celebration Feb 25-26
To celebrate their 21st year of business and to show appreciation to all their loyal customers Irvine Park is rolling back to their original 1996 prices during their anniversary weekend… including $2.00 train rides! The anniversary celebration will also feature other $2.00 activities and concessions including carnival games, hot dogs, sodas, ice creams, popcorn, bounce house tickets and cotton candy. Annual Surf City Splash & Pancake Breakfast  Jan 1

Fiesta Association Hairiest Man Contest Jan 7
One of the wackiest contests the Fiesta Association holds. You must come to the sign-ups with a “Smooth Puss” (clean shaven) and ready to be photographed for the “Most Wanted” poster. You then have 8 weeks to grow a beard or moustache that will be judged at the Fiesta Grande March 19th beginning at 6:30 pm. Existing beards and moustaches are also welcome.

Irvine Spectrum Center will be transformed into a winter wonderland when the festive outdoor Holiday Ice Rink returns to Giant Wheel Court this holiday season. The outdoor Ice Rink will offer fun for the whole family. Skate sessions are 75 minutes. Helmets are optional and provided free of charge. Season passes, private lessons and private parties are also available.

Art on the Walk Thru Jan 26
Following the successful Art on the Walk kickoff event, Anaheim GardenWalk, a premier entertainment and dining destination in Orange County, will continue to showcase the work of Southern California’s most talented artists throughout the Anaheim GardenWalk property as a part of the ongoing program. GardenWalk’s property showcases the works of talented artists such as Artists Republic Gallery, students and teachers from Fairmont Private Schools, Chapman University and the Anaheim Elementary School District, the Anaheim Family YMCA in collaboration with ‘Stamp Pop’, Anaheim Art Association, Downtown Anaheim Association, Evan Rossell, S. Preston, Ben Brough, Brian Bent and more!

Helping preserve Vietnamese culture, the Tet Festival boasts about the attraction of over 100,000+ audiences and hundreds of booths in a span of a three day weekend event. Visitors are immersed with a vibrant array of traditional foods, live entertainment, festive games, and customs celebrating the Vietnamese Lunar New Year.

Snow Day Jan 28
Tons of the frosty stuff is delivered to the dam to enable youngsters to sled, make snow people, and have old-fashioned snowball battles. Children are advised to wear warm clothes and gloves. Space is limited to 900 persons, and early registration is recommended. Advance registration fee for the event is $12 per person for Fullerton residents and $15 per person for non-residents.

Annual Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade  Dec 14-18
FREE to the public. The boat parade will light up the harbor for five consecutive nights. The parade starts at Collins Island at 6:30 p.m. and will last approximately three and a half hours over 250 ships participate in the parade along with hundreds of water front estates. Providing the backdrop for the parade is the Ring of Lights waterfront home and business decorating competition. FREE for spectators, entry fee for participating boats. Over million and half people view the parade each year.

Winter Fest OC 2016 Dec 16 – Jan 1
Winter Fest is a giant wonderland of immersive wintry fun featuring a full outdoor ice rink, 130-foot, six lane Snowflake Summit ice slide, a new-for-2016 play park featuring real snow blown in daily for snow angels and snowman building, photos on the world’s largest rocking horse, strolling carolers and personal visits in the cabin of Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

New Year’s Eve Celebration Dec 31
The City of Fullerton will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the annual “First Night Fullerton” on Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 12 midnight. This popular family-oriented, alcohol-free event will take place in Downtown Fullerton on Harbor Blvd., Pomona Ave., and Wilshire Ave. The event is free to the public and has an estimated attendance of over 15,000 guests every year.

Wonderfully decorated exhibits, food, arts and crafts, traditional music, dancing and activities for children will be available as well as visits from both St. Lucia and the Swedish Santa Claus or “Jultomten”.

Plymouth Rock N’ Run 5k Nov 24
The 5k and 10k course is around the perimeter of the Yorba Regional Park, and the Santa Ana River bike trail. There will be live music throughout the event, courtesy of CSUF jazz combomusic, prizes, food, and a 1k kids fun run for 12 & under.

39th Annual Dana Point Turkey Trot 2016 Nov 24
Produced by the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Run Racing, the Dana Point Turkey Trot is the nation’s sixth largest turkey trot in the country.

Tamale Festival Nov 27
Churro eating contests, as well as best tamale, best dessert tamale, best salsa and hottest salsa contests are part of this annual Festival in La Habra. There also will be food vendors offering pupusas, bacon-wrapped hotdogs, nachos, Mexican-style street corn and baked potatoes, as well as a cantina serving micheladas and margaritas. Live musical entertainment on the main stage (Portola Park) begins at 10:00 a.m.

Pageant of the Masters  July 7 – Aug 31
Presented in July and August since the early 1930’s, these colorful events have won worldwide recognition. The Pageant consists of ninety minutes of “living pictures” – incredibly faithful art re-creations of classical and contemporary works with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces.

La Habra Corn Festival Aug 5-7
The festival includes a fall parade and two day carnival at El Centro Park. The Corn Festival Parade is open to most any group that wants to participate. Applications may be obtained at the La Habra Chamber of Commerce or from Pageantry Productions in South Gate. The parade is one of the largest daytime parades in southern California.

Orange Crush Demolition Derby Aug 10

Long Beach Sand Sculpture Art and Music Festival Aug 13-14
The Long Beach Sand Sculpture Art and Music Festival is now in its 84th year! From August 13-14 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., enjoy seeing incredible sand sculptures, live music, a craft beer and wine garden, as well as a food court!
The competition will feature an impressive centerpiece sculpture built from a dream team of professionals! Dramatic lighting will provide a great nighttime viewing experience!

5K Fun Run Aug 14
All members of the family are invited to lace up their sneakers for a 5K only the OC Fair could host on Sunday, August 7 at 8 am. Presented by the OC Marathon, participants receive a commemorative finisher’s medal, race t-shirt and a one-time entry to the OC Fair (valid until August 14, 2016 and provided in goodie bag.)
