Irvine Park Railroad’s ninth annual pumpkin patch is fun for the entire family! Activities include train rides, hay rides, a child-friendly haunted house, a hay maze, a moon bounce, face painting, picture stands, John Deere tractor races and a lot more.
Tustin Tiller Days Festival & Parade Oct 2-4
Tustin Tiller Days has been a regular event in Tustin since 1957. The event provides an opportunity for Tustin to celebrate Orange County’s agricultural heritage. Features Parade (on Saturday at 10 am), carnival, rides, food and entertainment.
Dana Point State BBQ Championship Oct 3
Heading into it’s fourth year, The Dana Point State Barbecue Championship has already become the largest BBQ event on the West Coast. More than 100 teams from all over the country compete for cash and prizes in this Kansas City BBQ Society sanctioned event. The 2013 event drew more than 10,000 people who got to sample some of the best BBQ they will ever eat.
Annual Sandcastle Contest Oct 4
Hosted by the Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce, thousands of sightseers will descend on “Big Corona Beach” to view amazing sand sculptures created by participants ranging from the novice to the expert. Whether you’re a participant or a spectator, it’s a perfect way to spend the day with family and friends.
Orange County Children’s Book Festival Oct 4
The Orange County Children’s Book Festival is designed specifically for children of all ages. This family-fun festival attracts more than 30,000 visitors who will be entertained and delighted by authors, illustrators, booksellers, animals, storytellers, costumed characters, train rides, crafts, food and entertainment and much, much more.
The Heritage Festival and Parade Oct 10
Since 1965, this celebration of the city’s heritage includes a parade and fair booths. The festivities begin with the Chamber of Commerce pancake breakfast at 6:30 a.m. followed by the parade and band review at 9:30 a.m. The festival begins at 9:30 a.m. and will feature many exciting activities for the entire family including the annual car show, a crafts fair, food booths, kids games and more.
U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Oct 8-18
The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
Dana Point Oktoberfest Oct 10
German bands, great authentic German food and large selection of German and Craft brews on tap. It is also Southern California’s largest free Oktoberfest Celebration. Fun for the entire family featuring activities for the kids too.

Howl-O-Ween at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel Oct 29
Canines and their companions are invited for tricks and treats in celebration of Howl-O-Ween. This seasonal Yappy Hour celebration is a chance for pups to strut their stuff in their favorite costume. A panel of judges will determine which canine will take home the prize in the costume categories of Scariest, Funniest, Most Glamorous and, of course, Best in Show.
